When guests ask our staff which beach they should go to, it’s a tough question for us to answer. That’s because Lake George has about 32 miles of bays, islands, and coves where you can take a swim — including six fantastic public beaches just minutes away from Cramer’s Point.
Here are the public beaches in Lake George you can enjoy during your stay with us:
Shepard Park Beach: The Village of Lake George’s public beach is off Canada Street and open from June through Labor Day. It features a 350-foot sandy beach as well as a shaded park with an amphitheater for summer entertainment. Shepard Park is a great spot to spend some beach time, and when you need a break, it’s close to village restaurants and shopping. Note that the beach is closed when lifeguards are off duty.
Million Dollar Beach: This state-run beach is Lake George’s largest and most popular. Right on Beach Road, Million Dollar Beach is open from late May through early September. There are lifeguards on duty, and the beach area also features a volleyball court, showers and changing rooms, picnic tables and grills are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Usher Park Beach: Located on Route 9L, this park features a picnic area, tennis courts, and restrooms. The beach is at the bottom of a steep hill, but the state workers can help with golf carts if you have loads of beach stuff. The beach depth is shallow, and lifeguards are on duty during beach hours, so it’s a good choice for those with kids. There’s also an awesome playground, tennis and basketball courts, and a large picnic area.
Rogers Memorial Park Beach: You’ll find this beach on Route 9N in Bolton Landing and it’s a super spot for swimming and outdoor recreation. The beach has lifeguards on duty during specified times and features a picnic pavilion, grills, basketball and tennis courts, docks, a playground, and bathrooms.
Veteran’s Memorial Park Beach: Located just a half-mile north of Rogers Memorial Park Beach, this public recreation area has a beach, a park pavilion, basketball court, playground, picnic tables, and grills. For water adventurers, there’s also a kayak launch.
Lake George Dog Beach: This “unofficial” strip of beach, between Million Dollar Beach and the Lake George Steamboat Company docks, is a popular place for people to let their dogs enjoy the shoreline. Please remember to clean up after your furry friends as there are no pet receptacles.
Cramer’s Point Beach Access: We offer our guests access to a private beach just a short walk from our motel and cabins. This beach area is shared with us by residential property owners so it’s important for guests to know how beach access works. Click here for details on how to reach the beach and the guidelines set by the beach association.
